Julie Lam received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Development with a double minor in Philosophy and Women’s Studies from UCLA. Ms. Lam went on to receive her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law where she was an active member in the American Association for Justice Mock Trial Competition and the Student Bar Association.
While attending law school, Ms. Lam served as a law clerk for the San Diego Public Defender’s office, the San Diego City Attorney’s office, and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. She counseled a variety of clients; drafted and edited memoranda, motions, and briefs in preparation for trial; conducted preliminary hearings; interviewed witnesses; cross-examined defendants; and investigated crime scenes.
Over the years, Ms. Lam has gained valuable experience in the Workers’ Compensation legal process serving on behalf of insurance carriers, employers, and applicants. She has represented a number of clients including school districts, supermarkets, sports teams, and professional athletes. Her experiences as both an applicant attorney and a defense attorney give her a unique advantage in the litigation process. Because of her legal dexterity, Ms. Lam is able to anticipate actions from opposing counsel and take control of the legal process. In addition to successfully negotiating numerous settlements, she has appeared at several Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards, including Santa Ana, Marina del Rey, Pomona, Long Beach, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Anaheim.
Samuelsen, Gonzalez, Valenzuela & Brown is pleased to have Julie Lam join our team as an Associate Attorney in our Newport Beach office.
