Heather M. Moriarity attended University of California-Berkley where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. Her senior year Thesis was titled “Made in the USA? Sweatshops, Unions, and Latinas in the Los Angeles Garment Industry: 1965-2000.” Ms. Moriarity obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego, School of Law. While in law school Ms. Moriarity was a Law Review member and participated in several Moot Court competitions. Ms. Moriarity also interned at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, the San Diego District Attorney’s Office and the California Attorney General’s Office where she had the opportunity to argue before the Fourth District Court of Appeal on several occasions. Ms. Moriarity graduated Cum Laude in 2009, she was admitted to the California State Bar and Southern District of California that same year.
Heather M. Moriarity began her professional career as a graduate law clerk at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. From there she began practicing Workers’ Compensation defense where she represented self-insured employers and insurance carriers. Ms. Moriarity is well versed in conducting depositions, cross examining doctors, appearing at court proceedings, including trials, and negotiating various settlement agreements. Ms. Moriarity has had several “Take Nothing” trial decisions. Additionally, Ms. Moriarity is well versed in the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board appellate procedures.
Ms. Moriarity has participated in numerous presentations to clients and Workers’ Compensation industry professionals as well as MCLE classes. These presentations span from caselaw to liens to the aggressive pursuant of early resolution of claims.
