LESLIE A. GUTIERREZ graduated from the University of California, Irvine, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in both Criminology and Psychology and Social Behavior. Ms. Gutierrez went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. While at Hastings, she served as Staff Editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal and worked with the Criminal Law Clinic. Ms. Gutierrez was recognized by Hastings for her Outstanding Achievement in Pro Bono and received the State Bar of California Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Services.
During Law School, Ms. Gutierrez worked as a Law Clerk at many different organizations including the New York Police Department Deputy Commissioner of Trials and the San Francisco Public Defender’s office. While working as a clerk, she gained experience in conducting client meetings, performing legal research, drafting legal documents and preparing for trial. She also second chaired a three week felony assault trial that resulted in an acquittal on all nine counts. After passing the bar, Ms. Gutierrez began working as a Legal Fellow for a non-profit legal aid organization. She successfully managed her own caseload from inception to resolution and handled a wide range of civil matters including employment law, landlord/tenant law, family law and estate planning. Since then, Ms. Gutierrez has dedicated her practice to Workers Compensation Defense. She is well versed in all areas of litigation and has experience conducting negotiations, mediations, hearings and motions.
