MAIHOUNG TA completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne, College of Law where she served as the treasurer of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and as a member of the University of La Verne Trial Team. Ms. Ta was admitted to the State Bar of California shortly following graduation.
Prior to pursuing her Juris Doctor, Ms. Ta worked as a paralegal for over three years at a firm specializing in Bankruptcy claims. She gained experience interviewing clients, researching legal issues and drafting legal documents, which gave her exposure to overall litigation process prior to entering law school. While in law school, Ms. Ta held many legal externships, including an externship at the Riverside Federal Public Defender Office. At the Public Defender Office she worked under the direction of the supervising attorney conducting legal research, client interviews and preparing memorandum and motions.
After admitted to the State Bar of California, Ms. Ta began her practice as a civil litigation attorney where she specialized in the areas of Bankruptcy and Restructuring, Personal Injury, and Real Estate law. In addition to independently managing her own caseload from inception through resolution, she also assisted senior counsel with deposition preparation and court appearances. Since then, Ms. Ta has dedicated her practice to Workers’ Compensation Defense. She is a strong negotiator who prides herself on her excellent communication skills and strong relationships with her clients.
In her spare time, Ms. Ta volunteers at the Center for the Pacific Asian Family crisis shelter and serves as a certified counselor for the survivors of domestic violence victims. Ms. Ta is fluent in Vietnamese.
